1. Creating a regular practice for yourself will yield the greatest benefits. We suggest making a commitment of practicing at least twice a week. Consider including a home practice, even if it is only a few asanas or moves each day. Practice is important, whatever calls you, yoga, dance or pilates, practice and you will reap rewards. 2. Have fun, ask questions. Your teacher is here to answer them. If you need special help or attention, beyond what can be answered at the end of a class, consider scheduling a private session with your teacher. 3. If you arrive late for class and we have already begun meditation, join us and sit quietly until the meditation is complete. Once we have finished meditation, you can lay out your props for your practice. 4. If you must leave early, please let your teacher know ahead of time (they can pick up your props for you). Make sure you give yourself a few minutes of meditation, savasana, or cool down before you leave. 5. Inversions are contraindicated during the menstrual cycle, especially during the first few days of flow. Let your teacher know and they’ll offer alternate poses for you. 6. A little soreness after your first classes is normal, that is the body awakening. If you are having specific, persistent or nagging pain, talk to your teacher about it. 7. Please avoid wearing perfume, cologne or heavily scented personal care products. Some individuals are allergic to scented products. 8. Unless otherwise noted, all of the classes on our regular class schedule are on-going. That means there is no need to pre-register. Occasionally we offer off-card pregistration based classes. They will not be included in the regular class schedule. 9. Come 5-10 minutes early for your classes, so you can take your time to settle in. 10. Wear comfortable clothes such as sweats, leggings, t-shirts, tank tops. No shoes will be needed. If you must wear shoes to class, they should be clean soled (not street shoes) scuff-free shoes. 11. Try to allow two hours between your last meal and your class. If you need to eat more frequently, then have a light snack about an hour before class. 12. A water bottle and small hand towel are nice to have for yourself. 13. Consider making a commitment to your practice and purchasing your own yoga mat. 14. Please tell the instructor about any current injuries, pregnancy, or medical conditions before the start of class. It is prudent to consult with your physician before practicing if you have specific concerns about your health. 15. Turn your cell phone OFF. 16. Be sure to sign-up for our e-mail list for class updates, changes and other news. 17. E-mail other questions to lisa@cedarandfir.com Relax and have fun! |
